3D Systems has long held a foothold in the world of medical 3D printing. The company is now taking the next step down that same road by launching a new anatomical modelling service. The service is much in same vein as other printing services that put out prints on-demand. The company is hoping for this new venture to be a boon to medical professionals worldwide.
3D Systems have given the process extra utility by linking their D2P software to the on-demand service. As a result, medical professionals can quickly edit and alter the design as they see fit. One of the most novel features is the ability to upload an entire patient scan into a 3D virtual reality model. This mode can give them a far more in depth look at their patients anatomy with a controllable layer visualisation.
This system goes along with a ton of features like mesh scans and 3D PDF generation. The service also links up to various other 3D Systems’ medical services with adjacent features. 3D Systems is offering it to go with virtual surgical planning and anatomical modeling services, providing healthcare professionals with a one-stop hub for their medical and surgical needs.
The service is very easy to use. It only takes 3 simple steps to obtain a model. Firstly, medical professionals can upload any model they want into the company’s service website. They can also prepare the model files with the D2P software or one of the user’s own choice. As mentioned earlier, users can also pick from a library of anatomical models.
Next, customers select the materials they want to print with. A range of different materials are available depending on the model users pick. They can also highlight various areas on the model. Once users set the model details, they can order a quote.
Finally, after reviewing the quote, users may place the oder and wait for it to arrive. The company states that it can get the model to the user within 5 business days.
